University of Maryland Students Visit the Garden

On March 20th, we hosted a group of students on an alternative spring break from the University of Maryland, College Park. An alternative spring break is a trip during which a group of students engage in community service as opposed to what might be considered more “traditional” spring break activities. The students who we hosted from College Park spent their week serving at local grass roots organizations around Baltimore City.

While at the garden, the students worked primarily in our Possibility Garden. The Possibility Garden is an area designed to give individuals who are not physically able to reach lower garden beds the ability to participate in gardening activities. During their day at the garden, the students installed a ground cover which will be used to stabilize the raised garden beds.

The group from University of Maryland is one of many university student volunteer groups that have helped make the Cherry Hill Urban Garden a reality. We are truly appreciative of all our volunteers!
